5 days’ safari starts in Uganda and ends in Rwanda. This safari will take you gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable Forest, cross to Rwanda for the same gorilla trekking in Parc National des Volcano. These two places have got different gorilla groups.Bwindi has 4 groups of gorilla, namely: Rushegura with 10 gorillas and 1 silverback, Mubare with 16 gorillas and 1 silverback, Habinyanja with 23 gorillas and 2 silver backs and Nkuringo with 19 gorillas and 1 silverback. While Parc National des Volcano has seven habituated gorilla groups such as the susa group, Amahoro group A and B, Sabyinyo group and others.
Itinerary
Day 1: Kampala-Bwindi
After an early morning breakfast and the safari briefing, head to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest while driving through the Uganda’s Switzerland, Kabale. The nature walk will lead you to the Munyaga Waterfall and a chance to see Primates such as the Grey Cheeked Mangabey Blue monkeys and others species. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort/Buhoma Community Bandas (Full Board)
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi
Early morning, have a hearty breakfast to give you the energy needed. Take with you packed lunch and all the necessary gear to track the rare Mountain Gorilla, one of the most exciting wildlife experiences while heading to the ranger headquarters for the gorilla activity briefing. The tracking may take between 2 and 6 hours with the help of experienced guides. It’s amazing to listen and observe the gorillas in the forest while they marvel and grumble to each other. Have a relaxed afternoon of an option forest walk. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Resort/Buhoma Community Bandas (Full Board)
Day 3: Enroute to Parc National des Volcano, Rwanda
After an early breakfast, at 0600h, drive to Parc National des Volcano, North West to Ruhengeri, the main settlement base for gorillas which is about a 9 hours drive.
Have lunch enroute and reach in the evening hours. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge which is West of Kinigi Park Headquarters.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking
After an early breakfast, depart to the park headquarters for the briefing on Gorilla trip formalities with packed lunch and trekking gears to enable you trek easily. Set off for the trekking into the tropical rain forest in search for the habituated gorilla groups. It’s the most breathtaking and distressing wildlife experiences one can have by getting close to the animals to get a good observation. The huge biodiversity, implausible scenery and extraordinary views also attract tourists. Overnight at Gorilla Nest Lodge/ Kinigi guest house (FB)
Day 5:
Departure
After breakfast drive to Kigali, heading for the Airport and departure.
